About Gallery Covas

Gallery Covas is a new project based in the Alto Minho in northern Portugal, only an hour’s drive north of the historic city of Oporto.

Centred in the unspoiled village of Covas, just south of the town of Vila Nova de Cerveira, the Gallery serves as an outlet for artists and artisans of the area.

Hjördís and Robin, who run the project, will also work with dynamic young local designers to look for fresh ways of utilising traditional crafts in a rather more contemporary way. The project aims to revitalise the crafts in this part of the Alto Minho and give them a new look.

Adjacent to the Gallery is the Woodturning Studio – Logs to Art. Robin’s work has been bought by collectors from countries in Europe, southern Africa as well as from Canada and the USA. His pieces have been in exhibitions and on display in Mozambique, South Africa and Iceland and is for sale in the Gallery.
